Dixie

Dixie on YouTube

Dixie, without the racists this time, what say y’all?

Dixie from The Hell Raisin’ Hippies album, Rise! We always try to portray an image of “The South” in different ways than it is typically stereotyped and this song is one of another of its portrayals. We also use this portrayal in The Dixieland Redemption.

Our YouTube version of Dixie is closely synchronized to Scarlet O’Hara’s walk through a burning Atlanta amidst the dead and dying Confederate soldiers in Gone With The Wind.

Rhett Butler: Take a good look my dear. It’s an historic moment you can tell your grandchildren about – how you watched the Old South fall one night.

Quotes

(Dixieland)
Oh I wish I was in the land of cotton
Old times there are not forgotten
Look away, look away, look away Dixieland
Oh I wish I was in Dixie, away, away
In Dixieland I take my stand to live and die in Dixie
Because Dixieland, that’s where I was born
Early Lord one frosty morning
Look away, look away, look away Dixieland

(The Battle Hymn of the Republic)
Glory, glory hallelujah
Glory, glory hallelujah
Glory, glory hallelujah
His truth is marching on

(All My Trials)
So hush little baby
Don’t you cry
You know your daddy’s bound to die
But all my trials, Lord will soon be over

Glory, glory hallelujah
His truth is marching on
His truth is marching on

Elvis Presley, An American Trilogy
